Since the time of ruling of erstwhile Travancore kings, the PWD and Police department members had been conducting Kavadi Festival in the Tamil month Karthigai in Thuckalay
in Kanyakumari District.
Kavadis are carried to the near by Lord Murugan Temple in Kumarakovil.
