Name :  Maiyakottai

Location : 2 Km From Padmanabapuram on the Kulasekharam Road

Located on a rock at a height of about 350 feet, this fort was used for burning those soldiers who were killed in warfare.

Heritage Tree - Neer Maruthu (Tholkappiar)

Place : Esanthimanagalam

Route:  Nagercoil -----> Puthery -----> Esanthimangalam

An Arjuna tree, known as ‘neer marudhu' in Tamil, estimated to be over 500 years old, has been named after Tamil poet Tholkappiar and was dedicated to the State at a function in Nagercoil on  July 17, 2010.

According to the District Forest Officer V.Sundararaju ,this one is the first-ever tree, which has been identified outside the forest area in the district.

District Collector Rajendra Ratnoo dedicated it to the people of the State

Girth of the tree is 26 metres

While the bark is used for curing heart and skin diseases besides liver enlargement, the wood is used for making agricultural implements, carts, cots, chairs and dining table

Height of the tree is 46 metres
