The Protestant Missionaries who arrived in the 19th century were
the first to introduce English education in Kanyakumari district.

Of them Rev.William Tobias Ringle Taube , established schools
and worked among the poor and downtrodden.

Rev. William Tobias Ringle Taube established the First English
school in the landgiven by Rev.Maharasan Vedamanickam
Desikar in 1809.This regular school is still active and doing
yeoman service in the field of education.
