In the absence of clear records, one set claim that the Eraniel Palace was constructed during the reign of Vanchi Marthandavarma , while other claim that it was constructed during the reign of Cheraman Perumal - one of the 63 saivite saints. Legend says that Cheraman Perumal , who vanished from the Eraniel Palace , was being taken to Heaven in his Physical body.

It is a shame that that we dont pay respect to our heritage.
World should develop only on foundation of its past memories. Past memories indicate that we have love towards our own blood, our own culture and our own self. Love for ones culture is love for oneself. If you dont respect your past that indicates you have poor values and you are selfish person who like to live your life for your own pleasures.. not mindful of the ancestors and not responsible for the future generations. Hope we stress on promotion of cultural values urgently before we loose all symbols of our past life.
